Directions from Geneva airport

Chalet telephone number: 0033 450748260.

Leaving the airport follow signs to ‘France.’ Go through a number of sets of traffic lights down an essentially straight road. At the end of this road is a T junction. Bend round to the left and then take the first right onto the motorway (still following signs to France.)

Pass through several tunnels and eventually come to the passport control/customs (Swiss) and then the French passport control/customs. The motorway splits shortly after this; follow the left hand fork and the signs to Mont Blanc Tunnel/Chamonix.

(If coming from the UK on the motorways join the directions here)

Continue on this motorway for some time which eventually will split again and head off right still following the road to Mont Blanc Tunnel/Chamonix. Eventually pass through the toll/péage which is €1.60 in 2006.

Immediately after the péage take the first right. (From here look for signs saying Vallée Verte/Portes du Soleil/Morzine/Les Gets.) Come up to traffic lights and go left. Go over the motorway and take the second right. At the next mini roundabout go straight over. The road carries on for several km’s to a junction and turn right.

(NB If you have missed the first right after the peage continue on to the exit to Cluses (not La Clusaz) and follow signs to Portes du Soleil. This will take you eventually into Taninges-see below.)

This is the La Vallée Verte road. Stay on this road going through countless villages, over countless roundabouts and through countless traffic lights. After 20-30km Taninges is reached. Go through the centre of town and then turn immediately up the hill to the left, following the signs to Les Gets and Morzine.

On entering Les Gets follow signs for Morzine going round the left hand side of the town and then down the hill to Morzine. On the outskirts of Morzine there is a sweeping left hand bend. Go off right (it’s almost straight on) and into the town. Take the first right on entering the town (200m after the garage on the right.) Go along this straight, flat road, straight over the next roundabout, under a bridge and down to the next roundabout and turn right. After only 100 m there is a left hand hair-pin bend. Turn off right.

You are now on the ‘La Vallée de la Manche’ road; the chalet is near the end of this road. Drive for 5km along this road through a number of hamlets At a sign saying ‘L’Erigné’ pass a few houses, a restaurant on the right and the chalet is the next on the right. It’s a big house and can’t be missed.

Approaching Morzine from Thonon direction

There is only one road up from Thonon (this is also the road if driving round from Chatel or Les Diablarets etc)

A few miles from Morzine pass a large Champion supermarket. Carry on and the road winds round a few bends. As the road bends sharply round to the right there is a significant turning on the left (it’s almost straight on.) The sign says Montriond. Take this road which after a few miles brings enters into the bottom of Morzine. Go round the statue of the soldier and, in effect, carry straight on. Continue along this road (after half a mile pass the Hotel Le Soly) until reaching a small roundabout. Go straight over and as the road bends right round to the left, turn off to the right (almost straight on.)

Now go to the last paragraph of the first set of directions.
